The USAID Southern Africa Trade and Investment Hub (USAID TradeHub) has concluded a series of virtual training workshops in support of the Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) and its efforts to develop a market derivatives product. The training workshops, which commenced on September 7, 2020 and concluded on September 11, 2020, were divided into a series of three sessions targeting, respectively, regulators, market actors, and traders. The training was also attended by representatives of USAID/Zambia. The objectives of the training were to present banks and financial institutions with an overview of the derivatives market being built at LuSE, solicit feedback on the proposed derivatives market structure, and develop an understanding of the different stakeholders that need to be engaged to make the derivatives market a success.
