On August 19, 2020, the USAID Southern Africa Trade and Investment Hub hosted a business-to-business (B2B) trade event linking 18 Mozambique-based suppliers of honey, banana flour, dried fruits, and cashews with prospective buyers from South Africa. Following the event, ten of the suppliers participated in a feedback session in which they expressed their interest in participating in future such gatherings. The USAID TradeHub organized the B2B event with the African Agri Council. The USAID TradeHub provided technical support by assisting suppliers to register for the event, preparing virtual stands, providing training on how to navigate the virtual event platform, and ensuring that the 18 companies prepared video presentations for pitching during the event. The USAID TradeHub also provided English-Portuguese translation. The event is an example of the USAID TradeHub’s deepening expertise in virtual trade events, which the program is scaling through its partnerships with trade promotion actors like African Agri Council and DMG Events.
