Between August 24 and 27, 2020, the USAID Southern Africa Trade and Investment Hub, through a U.S.-based trade linkages specialist and USAID TradeHub partner firm Bhavana World, introduced four Lesotho-based textile and apparel firms to two potential U.S. buyers. The first of the buyers, Apparel Sourcing International, was introduced to TZICC Clothing Manufacturers, Super Knitting, and Lesotho Precious Garments. Apparel Sourcing International has already expressed interest in sourcing from all three as well as participating in virtual tours of their facilities. The USAID TradeHub is exploring the possibility of arranging these tours. Meanwhile, Liberation Clothing submitted a quote to a second U.S. buyer, which is yet to be confirmed as the linkage is being facilitated through Bhavana World – a Trade Promotion Service Provider. This prospective deal owes to facilitation from Bhavana World, which specializes in linking entrepreneurs in emerging markets with international business opportunities. The linkages to date contribute to the USAID TradeHub’s third objective, which seeks to boost Southern African exports to the United States through the African Growth and Opportunity Act.
